Virus Ebola

Virus Ebola adalah salah satu dari setidaknya 30 virus yang dikenal mampu menyebabkan demam hemoragik virus sindrom. Meskipun agen yang menyebabkan sindrom demam virus berdarah merupakan kelompok geografis beragam virus, sampai saat ini, semua virus RNA dengan amplop lipid, semua dianggap zoonosis, semua kerusakan microvasculature, sehingga permeabilitas pembuluh darah meningkat, dan semua adalah anggota dari satu dari empat keluarga: Arenaviridae, Bunyaviridae, Flaviviridae, dan Filoviridae. Meskipun beberapa dari virus demam berdarah biasanya di sebarkan oleh kutu atau nyamuk, semua kecuali satu (yaitu, berdarah dengue) yang mampu di sebarkan oleh aerosol, membuat agen ini virus bioterorisme potensial.

Keluarga Filoviridae berada di urutan Mononegavirales dan berisi genom terbesar dalam pesanan. Anggota awalnya dianggap dari Rhabdoviridae keluarga, virus Ebola dan virus Marburg yang berbeda antigen sekarang terdiri dari keluarga Filoviridae.
